Storyline: Paul Pierce and KG return to Boston tonight as the Brooklyn Nets look to continue their winning ways. Brooklyn is 7-3 in their last ten games and are coming off a successful West Coast swing. Defense has been the catalyst for Brooklyn’s turnaround. The Nets are giving up 90.3 points per game on this current winning streak. Brooklyn has won 15 of their last 16 games against teams that are below .500. As a side note, KG will miss his fourth straight game tonight due to back spasms.
Three Keys For the C’s
1. Go Small: The Celtics cannot play a half court game offensively tonight. Brooklyn’s length will give them problems so look for Brad Stevens to play small and look to push the pace.
2. Defend the Pick and Roll: Brooklyn is a half court team offensively. They do a lot at the elbow with their pick and roll game. Celtics guards have to work through those picks and challenge shots. If they don’t, Brooklyn will shoot the lights out!
3. Compete! The Celtics did not compete the other night! There is no question they were over matched against Golden State but they could have played better. They will need to play with more energy, especially defensively if they want to have any chance of winning this game.
Bottom Line: The Celtics will get up for tonight because Paul is back in town and its a divisional opponent. They’ll be over matched again tonight but look for a better effort than Wednesday night.
